Welcome to Phoenix Beadwork!

Greetings, and welcome! My name is Max (Shown here with my wife, Esme, on our wedding day) I've recently relocated from Colorado to Vermont. I'm a Mescalero Apache, and Cherokee Native American, and have been doing traditional Native American Beadwork, leather crafts, and jewelry making since I was eight years old.

My great-grandmother on my maternal side was a "Carlisle Kid", where the motto was "Kill the Indian in him, and save the man." Click To learn more about the Carlisle Indian Industrial School.

In a nutshell, this is the legacy of Carlisle- Impact and Legacy: Over 7,800 children from more than 140 tribes attended Carlisle during its nearly 40 years of operation. The school served as a model for many other Indian boarding schools across the nation. However, the forced assimilation policies and the separation of children from their families caused lasting trauma and contributed to the decline of Indigenous languages and cultures.

It has long been my desire to keep the tradition of Native Beadwork alive and well. Below are a few examples of my work. You can visit the shop in Derby, VT, or find us at various events and Pow-Wows throughout New England.

Included here are just some examples of my work for you to take a look at. I am always creating new items to share with you!

We look forward to seeing you at the shop in Derby, Vermont soon, or at an event near you! Thanks for stopping by!
